I cannot lie, I did not train my horse to sit. He just does it on his own. He actually sits like this for a few moments before he gets up and we all laugh at him. I think he does it just because he can. I kid the students and tell them that I taught him how to do this.
Hey, do you have a horse that had some quirky habit? Please share!

Up in Wyoming at our vacation place the various families keep about 50 horses. They run free at night in the pasture and are wrangled in to a corral where each is caught to ride at need. Usually we’d take a halter and walk in and approach the horse and halter him and lead him out.
One horse, Teddy, a brown gelding, was too smart. He didn’t want to be caught and he’d always keep another horse between you and himself. The head wrangler came in with his rope, and Teddy quickly ducked his head, looking out beneath the head of the horse who shielded him so the lasso would be blocked. It used to take five people to head him off, corner him and lead him out. I can tell you I learned some new words from the head wrangler that day.
Once we got him, he was the nicest horse – he just didn’t like to get caught.
It is amazing how many colorful words one can learn when being around a person frustrated with their horse! Too funny!
Hoping all is well with you Bill! You are in my prayers!
Haha that’s so cute!! My horse doesn’t really have quirky things, he’s just one big goof. He’s really mellow and chill, but once he’s stressed he does this thing we call ‘stress eating’. This basically means that he grabs a piece of hay like a madman and then walks around in his stable whilst chewing it……
Oh no, he sounds like me, I always grab something to eat when stressed!
Hahah me too!! Every animal takes after its owner…. or so they say 😉
